Selecting the Right Type of Ultrasound Gel

Posted October 5th, 2021

Any procedure that uses an ultrasound machine also requires ultrasound gel as part of the process. It is impossible to get a picture on the machine without using a product that is conductive in nature. There must be a conductor present that secures a bond between the skin and the probe for a connection to be made. The ultrasound gel allows the probe to transmit waves deep into the tissue.

Ultrasound gel also allows a probe to move smoothly across the skin without friction. It is important to select the right type of ultrasound gel in order to get the best results.

Ultrasound Gel Suppliers

Work with an ultrasound gel provider that you can trust. This is a medical grade product that you need to rely on when performing a variety of procedures. The reputations of the medical establishment that will be using it along with the healthcare personnel is at stake. There are gels on the market that may not live up to your requirements so make sure that you use a supplier that is known in the field as being reputable.

Wavelength Multi-Purpose Ultrasound Gel

This is our most popular ultrasound gel. It has a medium viscosity and provides excellent conductivity for diagnostic imaging, therapeutic ultrasound and for other types of procedures that would need a thick medium viscosity. It is long-lasting and doesn’t run. This ultrasound gel spreads evenly while providing top-performing conductivity and lubricating properties.

This product is available in 5 liter, 1 liter, 100 ml and 200 ml sizes. It contains no dye, fragrances, alcohol or salt and is non-staining and greaseless. It is a hypoallergenic, water-soluble, bacteriostatic and non-corrosive conductive gel.

Wavelength Ultrasound Lotion

National Therapy is a Toronto-based ultrasound gel supplier that also sells wavelength ultrasound lotion. This lotion can be used as an alternative to conductive gel with medium viscosity. It can be used in therapeutic applications where a lotion with medium viscosity is preferred.

When using a gel, it must be wiped off the skin following the procedure. It can be messy and it can be difficult to remove all of it. This lotion, on the other hand, does not need to be removed and can simply be massaged right into the skin when the procedure is over. It is soft and smooth and has been enriched with aloe vera. Your patients may appreciate the extra effort you made to provide this lotion as an alternative to a traditional ultrasound gel.

Wavelength Low Viscosity Ultrasound Gel

This gel can also be used for imaging and for any other procedure that requires a gel with low resistance. It doesn’t dry out quickly nor does it run. This conductive ultrasound gel is non-staining, greaseless and non-corrosive. It is made of a bacteriostatic formulation that is hypoallergenic and water-soluble and it can be spread thinly.

It is available in 5 different sizes including 5 L, 4 L, 1 L, 500 ml and 250 ml.

Wavelength TMS Gel

This ultrasound gel has been formulated for procedures that are longer-lasting than others such as muscle stimulation and TENS. It is a high viscosity gel that can be used in a variety of other therapeutic procedures that require a thick gel.

The Wavelength TMS Gel is a greaseless, non-corrosive, non-staining and conductive bacteriostatic formulation that is also hypoallergenic and water-soluble. It contains no added fragrances, salt or alcohol.

Wavelength High Viscosity Gel

This is a clear gel and the thickest gel in our line of products. It is completely pigment-free unlike the TMS gel mentioned above, which has a slight tint. This is the perfect gel for applications that are laser-related and it works well as a therapeutic application for prolonged procedures.

Our high viscosity gel does not contain any dyes, fragrances, alcohol or salt and is non-staining, greaseless, non-corrosive and conductive. It is available in 5 L, 1 liter, 500 ml and 250 ml sizes.

How to Choose the Best Ultrasound Gel for Different Applications
At National Therapy we are committed to providing the best ultrasound gels that are suitable for a variety of applications. Our Low Viscosity Ultrasound Gel has a low viscosity of 40 to 50 Kcps at 25°C and has a neutral pH level. It can be used for both imaging and therapeutic ultrasounds.

The Multipurpose Ultrasound Gel is blue in colour with a medium viscosity of 70 to 80 Kcps at 25° and features a pH level that is neutral. As with the low viscosity gel above, it can also be used for imaging and therapeutic ultrasounds.

Our Clear Ultrasound Gel is colourless with a medium viscosity of 70 to 80 Kcps and is also pH neutral. This gel is commonly used for imaging and therapeutic ultrasounds as well as for muscle stimulation.

The TMS Gel at National Therapy has a slight yellow tint and it has a very high viscosity of 150 to 160 Kcps. This gel is slightly tacky and also features a neutral pH balance. It is most commonly used for TENS applications and for muscle stimulation.

Our High Viscosity Gel is colourless with a high viscosity level of 100 to 110 Kcps and has a neutral ph. It’s primary application is for light-based procedures but can also be used for therapeutic ultrasounds and for muscle stimulation.

The Ultrasound Lotion is white with a low viscosity of 35 to 45 Kcps. It also has a neutral pH level and is used primarily for therapeutic ultrasounds. It can, however, also be used for muscle stimulation applications.
